Modern Events Calendar - unable to auto-update

Hi,

For the past couple of releases I’ve had an issue with Modern Events Calendar:
There is a new version of Modern Events Calendar available. [View version 5.5.0 details] Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin.

This happened on all the sites on which I use MEC for the last update too (5.4.6) - I am having to go to each site, remove the plugin and re-install from X addons. Obviously this isn’t how it’s supposed to work.

I’d be grateful if you could help me resolve the issue such that automatic update is possible again.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for writing in! There is a known issue that the Auto Updates is not working. Yes, the delete and re install would do the trick for the moment. We have submitted this already to our issue tracker so the developers will be made aware of it.

Hi Rue,
Please could you provide an update on this - another release (5.5.0 > 5.6.1) and still no fix. This is a real pain as I have multiple sites that all currently need manually updating.

Hey There,

After investigating this we have found out that MEC stripped some variables that are required for automatic updates. This will be fixed in a future release but till then you will need to either delete and reinstall the MEC plugin to update or deactivate MEC perform the update and reenable it. Let us know if you need anything else.
