Modern Events Calendar Single Event Template

I’m trying to get the single event view/template to look like this:
https://guestlife.com/events/exhibit-night-navigation-at-inpost-artspace-at-the-outpost-performance-space-in-albuquerque/

Where I have the same version of PRO, Theme Integrity,
Site Layout = Fullwidth, Content Layout Content left, Sidebar Right.

But on this site it looks completely different -
https://dev-palmspringslife.pantheonsite.io/events/new-artist-group-show-at-coda-gallery-on-el-paseo-in-palm-desert/

HOw can I get the dev-palmspringslife site to look like guestlife.com

All the setting in MEC are the same as well.

Thanks- Todd

Hi Todd,

Thanks for reaching out.

I think you’re referring to the items on the right side of the content? They are event’s specific feature that you need to enable. Example, you can go to Admin > M.E. Calendar > Settings

Though, I can’t confirm if all the settings are the same, please provide your admin login credentials in a secure note so I could check

Thanks!

Thanks- Todd

The social media option is selected.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for reaching out.

I just checked and the changes I applied aren’t taking effect, I also deactivated the cache plugin without any luck.

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

And please allow us to deactivate and switch themes for further troubleshooting, and please back up your site.

Let us know how it goes!

I turned off all plugins except Modern Events Cal and swapped the theme to twenty seventeen - cleared all caches, turned off cache plugins. - Same issue? Yes your may do what you can - this is a dev site. I have current backups. Any changes you make will not effect the live site.

Note - I did return the site back to the point where we started the ticket - turning on just enough plugins to keep the appearance where we started.

Thanks Again - Todd

Hey Todd,

I checked your single events page and what’s actually displaying is your search page (see screencast in the secure note). I see you have a Redirection plugin. That might be the cause of the issue. Plugins like that might still work even if you deactivate it because it might leave settings in your htaccess.

As you also said, switching to the default theme doesn’t solve the issue. This is because it’s permalink related. Please try the following:

  1. Delete your search page and clear all caches.
  2. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

Thanks.

And

Permalinks are fixed - the single event view is still an issue - sorry I had made a back up/ reset and forgot to reset it after trying new themes and turning off all the none critical plugins -

Thoughts?

Todd

Hi Todd,

I have investigated this issue further and when I have tested your parent Pro theme by switching it from your child theme, I see that your site is not validated. Usually that happens when the parent theme is corrupted.

Could you please try deleting your current Pro theme, then re-install the latest version, then validate your site and see if that makes any difference.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

The theme is installed and updated - still having the same issue

Todd

Hi There,

I’ve changed the Single Event Style option to Modern Style:

Then the style is working fine now:

Could you please clear all the caches and check again?

Thank you.

Thanks - but that style is not an option - it requires all images to be large. The standard does not and is how we use this plug in on our other sites. It appears that the standard template also requires a full width page, but since the default layout on this site includes a right rail it fails? I tried setting the site layout to fullwidth as a test and MEC still pulls in a right rail in standard mode.

Thoughts - Todd

SEE; this usage sample - with default template- https://www.guestlife.com/events/exhibit-a-promise-fulfilled-the-life-and-legacy-of-bob-chavez-at-the-indian-pueblo-cultural-center-in-albuquerque/

Hi Todd,

I tried this on my test site, default style and Content-Sidebar Layout and it works the same as it is in your live site.

It seems that your mec default style is corrupted or being overridden.

Can you try reinstalling your MEC plugin and activate your Parent theme.

Thanks

Thanks - I have replaced MEC and PRO already, but can try again Todd

Still no change after removing/replacing theme and MEC plugins - Todd

Hey Todd,

I’m sorry but I’m currently out of options. But, this happened to me before in pantheon.io host. I’m currently not sure how it got fixed in my test site in pantheon now. I’m using the latest supported version like in your site.

Would you mind copying your site to other web host for testing purposes?

Thanks.

Thanks Christian, I have this MEC running on 4 other pantheon sites with no problems, This site however is too large to copy to another host for more testing, and I’m wary as we’d never move it off pantheon. MEC is also looking at it and I’ll let you know if they have any work around.

FYI - this site is the only one using the PRO theme the others are on X.

Hello Todd,

Please go to Appearance > Widgets and disable all widgets added to the MEC sidebar. And then enable the single event meta options where in the data, maps QR code and other events details will be displayed in the right side of the page.

Kindly clear the Pantheon Page Cache first before testing your site again. You can clear it in Settings > Pantheon Page Cache.

Are you kidding - after all that /// you are a star! Worked like a charm, never thought to look there,

Thanks A Ton - Todd
