Hi @charlie
Can you explain this please: Modern Events Calendar will receive theme licensing information from us for future Pro support
Yes, they are going to validate an X or Pro license is valid in our system. They are hardening their licensing system so to make sure our users have the Pro version of MEC they are going to check out servers if a license and site is valid before allowing usage of their plugin. The recent update adds a filter to our integration with them so they know what license and site is in use for a given install. Let me know if that helps.
it doesn’t work yet, using the ProVersion: 6.9.4
Also please note, Envira gallery has the same problem
The code is in place for MEC, I believe they still have to finish their integration. I will remove that notice for Envira in the next release. Thanks for sending that my way and have a great day.
Thanks @charlie! Looking forward to the clear update path for MEC moving forward and a clean dashboard after the integration is complete.
Thanks for the update Charlie,
is it worth downgrading the MEC plugin to predate this latest update? as quite a few people currently have broken booking systems
It’s a good question. I believe there was a security vulnerability in the last release so I’m not sure what to do. I’ll try to reach out to them tomorrow and see how long it will be.
@charlie Do we have an update from MEC on when we might expect to get a working licence system?
Currently we are stuck between vulnerable software and broken software, neither are ideal
I sent them a follow up message. I’ll update this thread with their response. I know it’s not ideal and hopefully they will resolve this soon.
Thanks Charlie, I look forward to not getting warning messages
I’m told their update will release soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for the patience.
Thanks for the update Charlie
Whoop Whoop! Thank you Charlie
Although, I still need to delete the plugin, and then reinstall to force the update - is there anything that can be done about that?
No luck for me, the message is still there after the update.
EDIT: nevermind, I just had to clear my cache. Thanks!
Music to my ears. After taking a second look I should be able to fix that issue where you can’t update MEC without disabling first. Stay tuned and have a great day.
That would be amazing if we could auto update!
Thank you
I can report the same experience. I had to deactivate the plugin, update it from the update screen, and then come back and reactivate it.
At that point, the error was still showing, but I cleared all caches, including object cache, Cloudflare, and any other WordPress caching plugins i had active. And even then had to do several hard refreshes on my browser cache before the activated license message in green showed up. But I’m pleased to say it finally did!
Thanks @charlie! Hopefully we can update this plugin moving forward without having to deactivate it, and hopefully this licensing fix carries with any future updates.
The update issue should be fixed in Pro 6.9.7. Let me know if you see otherwise.
Just about to try it now, will let you know
It Worked!
No more deleting MEC to reinstall it, honestly this is one of my favourite updates to Pro this year (and there have been some good ones)
