Modern Events Calendar: multiple bookings strange behaviour

I have a question about the way MEC handles a single user making multiple bookings.

I am testing the system at the moment with free tickets for an event, and when I choose to book (for example) 4 tickets, it shows up on the bookings page like this:

See how it says “Free - Free - Free - Free”, one for each booking instance, even though these are booked by the same user. What if a user books 20 free tickets? It will show the word “Free” 20 times! This seems a strange way of handling it - is there a way to change this behaviour?

Likewise, the admin notification email shows the same user repeated four times, like this:

Name: some user
Email: email address
I agree to your Privacy Policy: Yes

Name: some user
Email: email address
I agree to your Privacy Policy: Yes

Name: some user

Hi Michael,

Thank you for writing in, I have replicated this on my test site (even with default theme) though I am not certain if this is a bug or intentional as you can have multiple tickets (and different person) in one event. Since this is a native plugin behavior we can only relay this to the plugin author.

Thanks,

If it is intentional, it seems like a strange choice. In the booking admin page itself, one attendee who has booked four spaces shows up as four separate attendees, which it could be argued is technically correct but is a weird way of displaying the data.

I have opened a ticket with the developer for further investigation - it would be great if your support team could do the same thing.

Yes, I agree. I have already submitted this to our issue tracker so our Dev Team can forward the issue to the plugin developer.

Thanks,

Many thanks @friech

You are most welcome!
