Modern Events Calendar Error & Can't Update

When I try to access an event on the backend, I get an error page:
There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

And I cannot update to the latest version:
There is a new version of Modern Events Calendar available. View version 6.4.0 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin.

Please advice.

It seems to be a conflict with your “Email Forms” plugin FYI…

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function create_function() in /nas/content/live/magicpalacedev/wp-content/plugins/tco-email-forms/email-integration/functions/framework/setup.php:28

Hello Luis,

Thanks for writing in!

The MEC plugin is a bundled plugin with the theme which means that we will be the one who will provide the updates. The latest available and supported version of the plugin is up to 6.3.0 only. You can check it here:

We are aware of the latest release of plugin. Our developers are still doing compatibility and conflict testing between the plugin and our theme. Once the testing is done, the new plugin version will be available through the Automatic Updates right in your dashboard.

Meanwhile, please deactivate the Email Forms plugin and delete it. You may need to reinstall it again to get rid of the error. If the issue persists, please downgrade your PHP version to 7.4.

Best Regards.
