Modern events Calendar double opt-in

Hi…!

We would like to realise double opt-in for events using Modern events Calendar.

Did somebody achieve this so far? Could somebody please advice?

Thanks and regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for asking. :slight_smile:

Feature you are looking for falls outside the scope of support we can offer as this is not related to an issue with the theme and instead has to do with your customization of Modern Event’s Calender plugin. As such, you will need to investigate this particular issue on your own or seek help from a developer should you not feel comfortable making these changes yourself.

However, you can take a look at following thread on official forum of Modern Event Calendar websites for some pointers:

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Prasant,

thanks for your feedback.

Sorry for asking again but just to be sure: Does this mean that all questions regarding the Modern Event Calendar have to be addressed outside of this support forum?

Just to give you an insight the 2 additional questions I would have regarding the MEC are:

  • How can I uncheck the checkbox by default using an acceptance element within an event
  • How I can I achieve that the tag of an event is not displayed for the user but is hidden within the page

Thanks again
Daniel

Hi @ulipu,

We do handle issues and questions here in the forum, including the ones for bundled plugins like MEC. But, we can’t provide and cover any customization.

And all we could do is add issues to our issue trackers. And implementing double-opt-in is not currently possible.

As for other two questions, could you clarify about the tag and checkbox? Please provide more information and screenshots.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

thanks for your support.

  1. Tag: When registering for a scheduled event the assigned Tag is displayed at the bottom of the page (please see picture marked in orange). We require this tag but do not want that it is visible om the page.

  2. Checkbox: On the 2nd page of the registration process for an event we inserted a confirmation checkbox (please see picture marked in orange). With this checkbox the users confirm that the accept the data protection agreement. This checkbox has to be unchecked by default.

Thanks for your advice and let me know any additional questions.

Hello There,

Thank you for the clarifications.

1.) In order not to display the tags, please add the following CSS code in the designated “Custom CSS” section

.mec-events-meta-group.mec-events-meta-group-tags {
    display: none;
}

2.) To change the default settings of the checkbox, please go to M.E. Calendar > Settings > Booking Form and make sure that the checkbox is not required.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi RueNel,

many thanks for your advise which worked perfect! The Tag is no longer displayed.

With my second challenge (checkbox) it seems that my explanation was not specific enough sorry for that:

  • The confirmation checkbox needs to stay mandatory but it needs to be unchecked initially. It needs to be an active user intervention to check and thereby accept the terms. When the user does not check the error (highlight box in red) needs to occur. I hope that clarifies my challenge.

Many thanks.

Hey There,

Regretfully what you need for the checkbox is not possible. This is a limitation of the form builder of the plugin. We’ve added your issue as a feature request to the creators of the plugin so it can be taken into consideration for future development.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you RueNel!

It would be great if you push this towards the developers for one of the next releases as it would help folks to address one of the GDPR challenges.

On behalf of my colleague, you’re welcome. Cheers! :slight_smile:
