I am trying to add a location with a map to my events. I have a Google maps API installed and when I input an address into the field Google sees the address and auto completes. If I click to add the event it put a 0 value in the Longitude and Lattitude fields and the map doesn’t display. I am trying to avoid people having to find the coordinates on the front end address form. Not sure how to get this working.
Hi there,
Thanks for posting in.
I will have to check it first before I provide further recommendation, would you mind providing the following in a secure note?
- Site’s URL (if login URL is different then provide it as well)
- Admin login’s credential
- The location/address you’re trying to add
Thanks!
Hi there,
All seems to be okay, I’m getting correct location. Would you mind providing a video recording for us to see what exactly you’re getting?
Thanks!
I have put in an address and pressed update. I have left the longitude and latitude blank. When you add a location and don’t input the longitude or latitude the app sets those settings to 0 which means no map is output on the single event page. To see this in action you will have to create and new event and a new location .
Hi there,
Ah, I think I know what you’re referring and you’re expecting the Lat and Long to be filled automatically. It’s not, you have to manually add them especially if you have specific coordinates. It’s optional, and the API key is only meant for the map so it could load it.
Thanks!
Ok, that’s not what the info pop up says.
Hi there,
What pop-up, may I know the full details on how I can reproduce the issue in case I’m seeing it differently?
Thanks!
If you go into locations and create a new location, there is a tooltip by the address field and it says that the plugin will auto fill the coordinates. Or it shows when you create a new event.
Hello There,
Thank you for the clarification.
I tried the function on my test and it seems working: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cbXuV22wth
Then to check whether the issue is related to location, I tried the location you were using on my test site: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cbXuVq2wtw. It is working too. See how I added only the address and coordinates autopopulate when I checked the location. Now, I tried it on your site and coordinates is both zero. I can see the following error:
Since the issue is something related to your setup, would you mind testing for a plugin conflict? You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
If the issue persists, can you then check error log? See the last few lines on the error log if there is something related to the event. We will check if the errors happens when saving the event or if it saves properly and just have issue outputting it on the location page.
