http://dandost.wpengine.com/ - there are several different modal windows with videos that come up and I’ve tried every combination/hack I can think of.

I tested Content Area Modal elements with Dynamic Rendering enabled and the Youtube video inside them were loaded upon opening the modal.
That said, there could be something causing the issue on your site only. Have you tried doing the troubleshooting steps listed in our Common Issues article here https://theme.co/docs/common-issues?
If you’ve tried them and none of them helps, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.
- WordPress Login URL
- Admin level username and password
