Mobile menu top links - touch not responding

Hi I’m working through a problem with the off canvas menu which is not responding to touch when top links are touched on mobile device.

I had changed the menu graphic interaction and the website froze so then I changed the graphic settings back to no interaction and the website was ok again however the touch menu is now not working.

Theme is pro 3.2.3 mobile is iphone / safari (tried on 2 seperate phones), I have cleared caches and do not have any custom code.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @Jefrf10,

There must be a problem in your installation preventing the Navigation Collapsed element to work. I tested the use case on another installation and it is working with no problem. Here you can check the page with your phone:

http://157.230.212.75/scroll/

I checked your website and could not find what is the cause of the behavior.

Would you please kindly create a new menu from Appearance > Menus and add a few simple menu items linking to few IDs such as #row1, …

Then please add a new page with simple rows with backgrounds and add the IDs to the Rows using Customize tab:

Then, please add a new header and assign it to the page that you created. You need to add a Navigation Collapsed element and set it to the menu that you have created.

Test and see if the result works for you on mobile. That will show if the problem is happening for specific pages or is a site-wide problem.

I’d also appreciate you test if there is any kind of plugin conflict that might cause the behavior by disabling all third party plugins and checking the website.

Thank you.

Hi Christopher - Thank you your help on this one, I appreciate your support.

I checked the “http://157.230.212.75/scroll/” and it did work on my mobile.

I then created a test page https://solutionadvisor.com.au/test with rows and Ids and a new collapsed menu.

I’m afraid the menu on the test page, did not respond to touch on my mobile.

I then de-activated all my plugins purged caches checked the website however the problem still existed on my mobile.

I look forward to further guidance.

Hi @Jefrf10,

Sorry but we can’t replicate the issue on our end, the mobile menu on your site (navigation collapse) works fine on my phone, please let us know what specific phone you’re on so we can try to replicate the issue, in the meantime, please try a different phone and see if that works. Also, please clear your phone browser’s cache and temporarily deactivate any browser add-ons.

Thanks,

Hi Friech

Thanks for your reply I have tried this on a number of devices both iOS and Andriod and the mobile menu appears however it does not does not scroll to the section when menu item is touched (Only on mobile devices).

Can you please confirm that when you tried to reproduce the error the site scrolls to the correct section. That is if you touch Contact then the content scrolled to the contact section.

I’m looking for guidance here as I have only configured the theme and not sure where to look to correct this behaviour.

Look forward to your reply.

Regards
Jeff

Hey Jeff,

When Christopher showed you that it’s working on your other site but it’s not working on your “solutions” site, that means that there’s something different in it that’s causing the issue.

It’s not just the plugins you needs to deactivate but you need to remove custom codes anywhere you placed them as well. I checked and found that a custom code is causing the issue. I commented it out and that made the jump link work on mobile.

You don’t need that code as we have integrated a function now that closes the modal after you click a link.

There is one important lesson to be learned here and that is custom codes can break your site in the future. That is why I always say that we do not support issues that arise from custom codes because this usually happens. Though I understand you need that code previously, if you use custom codes, it would be your or your personal developer’s responsibility to maintain the code and remove them before reaching out for support. To avoid this hassle entirely, I’d recommend we wait for the official features our development team produces.

Hope that helps.

Hi Christian

Thank you - Touch scroll works again…
I have been on the journey with the theme and now remember having to add this code in earlier versions.

Thank you once again for your expert guidance - really enjoying Pro.

Hope you have a great day.

Jeff

You’re most welcome,

Cheers!
