Mobile menu doesn't collapse on selection & changes width

Hi, I’m having several issues with the menu and am unable to find a solution that works. I’ve searched through various threads and tried all the js snippets out there, but they don’t work for me. I’m using a fixed header/menu because that’s how I want to navigate (on a mobile device.) I don’t use any fancy 3rd party plugins (only duplicator + duplicate post) and am using latest versions of Wordpress + Theme X + Cornerstone.

Website is: http://wifiverbetering.nl
To replicate the mentioned issue, please select: DIENSTEN, OVER ONS, or CONTACT from the menu, as they are page anchors. The other links navigate to other pages/sites.

The issues are:

1: The responsive/mobile menu doesn’t collapse on selecting an item from the menu
2: On Chrome for Android, the width of the menu changes when you select an item from the menu. (This cannot be replicated in emulation on chrome for desktop - screenshot attached from mobile device)
3: The responsive menu doesn’t work at all on safari for desktop (doesn’t open on click)

Lastly, the page can be zoomed out (as you can see in the screenshot about the changed width menu. This may be unrelated to the menu, but is undesirable anyway. I don’t want the page to be zoomable and would like to keep the width fixed to the viewport.

Below screenshots were made with an android phone (samsung), and have been confirmed by various users.

Hi Micheal,

Thank you for writing in, I have tested your very content on my end and can’t replicate the issues. This seems to be on your setup, please do a testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Please re-read my post - I use a vanilla Theme X & I don’t use any 3rd party plugins. The 2 I had are switched off now and it doesn’t make any difference - the issues remain the same. I’ve posted screenshots from my mobile phone which clearly show the issue with the menu jumping out of the mobile viewport after selecting one of the aforementioned menu items (anchors on the same page)

I’m using a Samsung A5 (2017) with Android 8.0.0 & Chrome 70.0.3538.80

Besides that, the menu doesn’t collapse on selection as also explained in these topics:

None of the suggested solutions in these topics work for me though and this issue can easily be replicated on any browser on any device.

Lastly, the responsive menu doesn’t work at all on Safari 5.1.7 (7534.57.2) for Windows. This is the least of my issues, but you can’t simply say it seems to be on my setup only. I have received feedback from customers and friends who help me check things and they confirmed all of the above issues.

Hey Micheal,

I see the resizing issues but regretfully, I currently haven’t figured out what’s causing the issue. I’ve also commented out your custom CSS to ensure they aren’t causing the issue and saved your page as a template and loaded it to a test page and the issue does not happen there. I’ve also loaded the template in my test site and even manually copied the responsive text setup and it also does not happen.

Would you mind copying the responsive text setup in your home page to the test page? If the issue still does not happen there, there might be some third party factor that is causing the issue.

Regarding the other issues:

1. The mobile menu does not really collapse in X. This isn’t a feature of X. You have a custom CSS that fixes on top on mobile. We do not support that customization. There are hacks given in this forum but we will not support issues that arise from the use of it.

Please consider using Pro if you need a sticky mobile header with auto-collapsing dropdown navigation element.

2. This could be related to the body resize issue. Please test the responsive text suggested above.
3. Safari on Windows is not supported. We only support browsers that WordPress supports. See https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/best-practices/browser-support/. If you encounter this issue in a browser supported by WordPress, please kindly list the Operating System and the browser. Also provide version numbers.

Thanks.
