Mobile Friendliness

Hello:
I recently tested my themes mobile friendliness in Google Mobile Friendly Test and it says that the site is not mobile friendly. Not sure why this is, I though the theme was responsive. I don’t have anything aside from some images on the desktop site that I thought would just be responsive when transferring to mobile automatically.

This screenshot is not exactly how it looks on mobile either. When I view on mobile I can see all of the pictures that are on my desktop and they look fine. The only thing that does not look right on my mobile is the image that I have on my homepage. On the desktop it looks fine but then on mobile it looks like it’s being squeezed in. Please help.

Hi @borinqen,

Thank you for reaching our to us. I tested your site in Google Mobile Friendly Test tool, your site loaded partially, there are multiple resources that are not loading that’s why the test is failing (see screenshots)

I then tested your site in another tool and the test passed without an issue (see screenshot)

There might be issues with your setup as I tested couple of other sites built with X and Pro and they passed the test without any loading issue. Please note that X and Pro are fully responsive themes that are optimized to work in all devices.

You can simply do following first and then test your site again:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.

  2. If you’re using a caching plugin, clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugin and other optimization plugins.

  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  4. Deactivate all third party plugins

  5. Remove custom CSS, JavaScript and deactivate your child theme and switch to parent theme (take a complete backup first).

Let us know how this goes!.

Most of these things I have already done. I have updated everything, I have cleared the cache etc. As far as deactivating the child theme that seems a bit extreme. I would loos all customizations … all to try to make the site mobile friendly seems a bit extreme.

What site did you run the test on because I am doing it on the Google Mobile Test and what I get is that it is not mobile friendly.

Hi @borinqen,

Kindly note that this is not an issue with the theme. It’s on how you set-up your site.
Setting Padding, margins, font size and content widths etc…

Kindly refer to the links below for your guide on how to fix these issues.

https://www.eqafy.com/component/content/article/50-note/234-links-too-close-together.html?Itemid=293

You can use google inspect element to check what is causing the issue.

Hope that helps

I have tested many things and I have not been able to fix. Do you provide a service for this type of assistance or can you recommend someone who would work on this for me? I am not very savvy when it comes to these types of things and I would hate to break anything on the site, however, I really need to fix this issue since it’s affecting my ranking. Tks!

Hello @borinqen,

Thanks for updating the thread.

My recommendation would be to post the requirement on Themeco Apex Peer to Peer forum. I also suggest you to post the requirement in Facebook group. I am sure you will get good and positive response.

Please note that the ThemecoUsers Facebook group is not backed by Themeco and is a community driven initiative.

Thanks.

I have tried almost all of the suggestions without any results. I have submitted my question in the peer to peer forum and have not received a response. Can you tell me what should be the proper widths and height for images on the header of the pages?

Hello @borinqen,

Thanks for updating the thread.

Width of the image can be around 1920px and proportionate height so that on larger screens image doesn’t get pixelated.

Thanks.
