Missing Title and Alt Text

I went through and and added an image title tag and alt tag. This was done on around 500 images successfully. I viewed the html code and could see these tags were added successfully. When I was adding new images today I noticed all the past title and alt image descriptions were empty. This was done about two to three months ago and the wordpress version has been updated along with the pro theme etc.

What could have caused all this data to be removed and is there anything I can do to retain all the work that was inputted?

Thank You

I added the tags inside the image window thats seen when you access the images from slider revolution. Not sure of the specific wordpress version when this was added but believe there has been at-least two wordpress version updates and atleast 1-2 pro updates since done.

The URL of the website is https://fparker.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated to get these tags back.

Hello Bryce,

The revolution slider image has added the Alt and Title attribute to the image in your slide.
Please check the image below:

Hope this helps.

Yes thats very odd because the image alt and title attribute are missing on the majority of the images that they were successfully added to. On the screenshot you sent thats one of the very few tags that hasn’t been deleted. Once this was done originally I proofed the changes in the source code and it was working correctly. Now the majority of my title and alt tags have disappeared. The only tags are are still there were the first two galleries added. I added all the tags to the images at a later time though successfully.

Any insight why this is not working correctly? I spent a lot of time doing this and made sure they were added by viewing the source code on every gallery.

I believe an update caused this error. Around 50 images still have the tags and around 450 image tags were removed. I made sure they were added correctly and triple checked my work.

I noticed this change when I was adding additional images and that most all my tags had been removed. Any tips to retain this data? Where would this metadata data be stored in the wordpress backup files? I only have my latest backup done a few weeks ago and not sure if it was done before this issue occurred. Do you think this is an update error or a plugin conflict with yoast seo for example?

Hello Bryce,

The images in the slider will be getting the alt texts from your media settings when you upload the images. Please go to Media > Library and inspect each of the images as shown below:

Hope this helps.

I think you missed my question.

I understand where the alt and title tags are added. I did this on over 500 images and only about 50 images have kept their title and alt text. I know I added the tags because I checked multiple times in my source code on each of my galleries to be sure the tags were correctly done. The only tags that have remained are from the first two galleries I uploaded along with the most recent uploads. So I have lost around 450 image title and text fields during an update with the pro theme, wordpress or a plugin.

I’m now concerned what else will randomly disappear with the continued updates…

My last question was I noticed this change when I was adding additional images and that most all my tags had been removed. Any tips to retain this data? Where would this metadata data be stored in the wordpress backup files? I only have my latest backup done a few weeks ago and not sure if it was done before this issue occurred. Do you think this is an update error or a plugin conflict with yoast seo for example?

Hey Bryce,

I think what Ruenel was trying to point out is Slider Revolution only outputs what was stored in your Media and it has no control over the data in there.

Pro also does not have a function that could delete Media data. I’m not sure if WordPress could cause such an issue. I’m sorry but I could not give you any hints because I’ve not experienced this issue myself nor are there other reported cases.

Since all data resides in the database, you might want to ask your host if there were database activities before the time you discovered the issue. This could also be caused by a third party plugin. You will need to monitor what plugin is causing the issue and report the case to the plugin author.

Thank you for understanding.
