Misconfigured URL IDX

I’ve created a header template. I was proud. LOL

However, I’m designing this site with IDX Broker which calls certain links from their server. So, when I’m trying to make the new header global… I’m getting an error:

The preview could not load due to misconfigured URLs. This could happen if you are using multiple environments and the site URL was not updated after migrating.

All of the IDX pages will call from that IDX Broker url… but the main content is on the staging server (origin url)… but then will transfer to their main URL… however the IDX Broker URL won’t change… so it will always call from a separate URL.

How do I work around this?

Hello There,

Thanks for posting in! The preview of the builder uses the URLS which has been set in your general settings in Settings > General > Site URL and Settings > General > WordPress Address URL. If these two urls is different from your WP dashboard url them you will get the same error message.

Hope this helps.

Actually… it doesn’t help. Sorry!

I have to be able to pull from 2 domains… is there no way around this?

All of the real estate listings come from the IDX Broker subdomain… and they pull the header/footer information from my site and put it in place correctly, but because I made a custom header… it doesn’t want to save it and only wants to use the basic header.

Okay… I think I found a workaround… but I have to add a piece of code to the
head area… is there a secret way I haven’t been able to find to do this?

Hi Nadine,

There is no secret way and as my colleague mentioned the base URL of the iFrame which calls the header is retrieved from the option mentioned by my colleague.

Now you have a specific set up which does not follow that and it is natural that the header will not show. So the header builder will not work for your setup. What I understand you added a code that redirects the base URL to the one already added to the settings. So you actually made your setup compatible with the way the Header Builder retrieves the base URL.

Thank you.

What I did was create a page that was nothing but a header and then a page that was nothing but a footer… was able to setup idx broker to use both header and footer that way… then I found I was not able to see my font awesome icons… so I downloaded a plugin that allowed me to add code to the head and tada! I was able to get it done!

I hope this helps the next person using X Pro for an IDX Broker account… :gift:

Thanks to the ThemeCo staff for your explanations… it helped me figure it out!
