Menus and Loading

Hi There,

I have recently changed over most of my site and rebuilt most pages using cornerstone now. There are a few things I still cant figure out i would love some help with.

  1. The ‘space’ in my menus is all over the place with uneven number of items in columns, uneven space etc. Best to look here https://kingdomwaves.com (under surf lessons) to see what i mean. i woul d like to be able to have even number of items in each column and also lessen space items and also have the padding the same on both sides of the menu. not sure if this is custom css or if i need to re-desgin something.

  2. when my site is loading there is normally a page that flashes before the site loads. this page shows my logo and a list of pages, almost looks like a sitemap. Can figure this out either so would love some help on that too

many thanks in advance!
tom

Hey Tom,

For your first concern, our Mega Menu’s design is fixed. The setup should be 3 levels like in the following screenshot.

Your current setup is just 2 levels that is why you see huge gaps. The gap of the 2nd level menu item is to separate it from the 3rd level menu like in the following screenshot.

For more details about X Mega Menu, please see https://theme.co/docs/set-up-megamenus

For your second concern, it’s likely due to combining all CSS files using an optimization plugin like W3 Total Cache. Please contact the optimization plugin developer to learn how to maintain the style of the website at first load or what we call “above the fold” styles. That involves loading the critical CSS. We have a video about that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WqXHfJ719g

You can check out the rest of the performance tutorials in our Youtube Channel and also our Themeco Docs

I’d just like to add that it’s important to note that we do not support performance-related issues such as what you experienced. If our guides don’t work for you, it’s best that you hire a website performance optimization expert.

Hope that helps.

awesome, thats great, thanks a lot. I will go through everything you said and give it a shot. many thanks

You’re welcome!
We’re glad @Christian were able to help you out.
