Menu Sub-Item stays open after selection, ONLY on iPad device types

My site is coming along nicely, thanks so much for the support here guys

But when viewing the website via my iPad the sub-menu doesn’t close after a sub-menu item has been selected - I have to click on the parent of that sub-menu to close it.

(usually I am using Chrome on my iPad, but I’ve tested this on Safari on my iPad and it happens on there too).

If I click on any other Main-Menu Heading (i.e. not the parent Main-Menu Heading), the open sub-menu STILL stays open. I can only close the ‘block’ of the Sub-Menu if I click on its Parent Main-Menu heading.

Menu works perfectly on other devices.

Please can you advise ?

Many thanks.

Hey @JezUK,

I checked your site in my Android phone and I believe you’re referring to the Navigation Collapsed’s submenu? That is normal behavior because all your menus are jump links or you have a One Page Navigation setup. In that setup, it is not good to close the submenu without the user’s action of closing it using the parent menu.

This is not an issue and there’s also no workaround to close the submenu when clicking other menus or anywhere. You would need to enlist help from a third party developer to modify the element’s behavior.

Thanks.

No.

I said iPad and Chrome and that it works as expected on other devices (I have an Android phone too).

When in Landscape mode (on an iPad), the menu isn’t collapsed, and the only button which has a sub-menu is the About menu button. You click on any one of those Sub-menu buttons and you’ll jump to that page, but the sub-menu stays open. Then click on any other MAIN MENU button and the Sub-Menu is still open.

The only way to close that sub-menu is by clicking on the heading of that sub-menu.

That cannot be correct behaviour.

Please can you re-suggest something because to me, that’s a bug and not something I would expect a user to fathom out that they need to do to close the sub-menu.

I repeat, I am NOT talking about a collapsed menu situation.

Hi,

I fully understand what is happening, but right now that is how it works when using a one page navigation set-up.
It it possible with some custom js code but this is outside the scope of support that we offer.

What we can do is to add this to our list of feature requests list. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive. Thanks!
