Media link to attachment page redirected to link to parent post

Hi all,

When media or posts are found via google image search & the link is hit - it redirects to an image attachment page (here displaying the image, the title, ‘admin’, date it was uploaded and the caption) Please see attachment for screenshot.

Is there a way to redirect every media image to the parent post instead of the media attachment page?

Many thanks for your help

Thanks for your reply.

In this case - is there a way to customise what details display on the media attachment page. Specifically, is there a way to remove the author (admin) and date uploaded?

Is there a way to add content to this page, other than the media caption.

Many thanks for you help & time

Hi Greer,

You can create a custom template for your Attachment File, but we cant provide support for template customization and we don’t recommend doing it.

You can use the Yoast SEO plugin instead to redirect attachment URLs to the actual image.

How to redirect attachment URLs to the actual image using Yoast SEO

It has actually a redirect attachment URLs to a post or page before, however, was not always reliable and caused a lot of issues (see the link above for more details).

Thanks,
