I was trying to figure out how to rename our media library images for SEO purposes and came across the great plugin Media File Renamer. While it allows me to rename the files, it looks like the Pro theme doesn’t change the references to those files so now I have broken images. Is there a way to make the theme work with this plugin? It would really be helpful for SEO.

Thank you for the very detailed post information. Please be advised that once you renamed the filenames of the images, you will need to edit where you may have added the images and then re assign or make sure that the images is using the new filename changes. Please do not expect that as the Media File Renamer plugin renames the image filename, it will also update Pro theme because it will not. It will not even update the image filenames when using the default WordPress TwentyNineteen theme.

Really? According to the plugin:
The plugin automatically renames your media filenames depending on their titles. When files are renamed, the references to it are also updated (posts, pages, custom types and their metadata).
It sounds like that’s exactly what it does.

The plugin claims to rename the filenames automatically including the other references are updated. This could mean that it will only happen when the image is attached to a page or post like being as a featured image or inserted into a page or post as an image. When using Pro theme, any images inserted as a background image or a simple image element will have that information saved into a Pro theme metadata. The Media File Renamer plugin may not support Pro theme. You will have to double check any image element url or section, row or column background image urls and see to it that it is using the newly renamed image filename. You will have to do it manually. And please also be advise that we do not support the plugin thus it would be impossible for the plugin to automatically rename all the images you have inserted inside the Pro editor.
