Before we further investigate this, given that we can’t really reproduce this on any of our installs, does your staging belongs to the same host where your main site is? If yes, would you mind installing it on different host? Just so we can confirm if this is host environment-related given that it happens regardless of plugins and themes.

Hello Carlo,
I have taken some time checking the number of resources being loaded unto the page. It turns out that 17 files were loaded from the Modern Events plugin alone.
It is best that you combine all these resources into one file using Autoptimize or related plugin to minimize the loading time and the size of the resource file.
