MEC Ordering for Same Day Events

Hi, sorry to bother. I didn’t get a reply on my last two posts. Just wondering if this is something that will be added to the query builder capability or if it will require custom development. See this forum topic.

I’m trying to order MEC events on the same date in the correct chronological time order. Using a looper and the query builder I can only get them to order either numerically by digit (makes 1pm go before 9am which is not correct), or seemingly by original event publish date even if I edit that publish date. I thought it would fall back on the published or modified date and that was going to be my workaround for ordering same day events, but that doesn’t seem to work.

I even tried modified code from the Custom Events Calendar Super Looper tutorial in Max. I was able to get an MEC Events archive page working this way, but still same day events are an issue.

Thanks!

Hi @OCcreates,

It seems that the MEC Date/Time is not sortable using the Query Builder. I will check with our development team on this and let you know.

Thanks

Hey @OCcreates,

We are still looking into this.

Please bear with us.

Have you tried mec_start_datetime? The datetime meta value contains the time as well for ordering.

Yes, I have! Using mec_start_datetime puts them in numerical order, not chronological time order. So it would be like event at 2pm, event at 5am, event at 7pm, event at 8am for example.

Hey @OCcreates,

We’ve discovered that it would require a custom Looper Provider to sort mec_start_datetime. Regretfully, custom programming is beyond the scope of our theme support. We are also not able to help because we’re not familiar with MEC’s system. We’re only familiar with its features. It would be best that you purchase a license of MEC to get support straight from MEC’s developers regarding how to sort out the mec_start_datetime.

Poop. So close to having a nice, customized event list. Ok thanks for looking into it!

Hi @OCcreates,

You are most welcome. Please let us know if you need any further help.
