MEC Events Slug Conflict

Hello,

I’m having a bit of trouble with MEC. I want to use the slug “events” for it, but I had a category called events as well, and I think it was causing a conflict, because when I tried to go to the event page, it kept giving me a 404 error. I modified the slug in MEC and now they all work, but I would like to change it back to events. I deleted the category from my posts, and tried to revert the MEC slug back (after going to settings > permalinks to flush them) but it still doesn’t work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! To resolve this, your slug for the single events should only be “event” and the category slug should be “events”. Any occurrence of the slug like in a post, page, portfolio, tag or category will result to an issue with an error 404. Please check everything, no slug duplicates to avoid any conflict.

By the way, I wasn’t able to check your site because the url is not loading.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I don’t have a cname yet. Try http://wp.holyangelssidney.com.

I’m not exactly sure how to change a single event to just “event” - the default slug in the settings was simply “events” and I don’t remember seeing a section for just a single event.

Hello There,

I have logged in and I was able to find the source of the conflict. It turns out that your portfolio item slug is set as “events” as well. I have changed it and used portfolio-item instead. You can check this setting in X > Theme Options > Portfolio > Custom URL Slug.

Please change the MEC slug now as you can now use “event”. You may go to M.E. Calendar > Settings > Slugs/Permalinks.

Hope this helps.
