MEC Events in ClassicText element

Hi I am using the following to display some recents events from the posts ‘news’ category’
[recent_posts count=“4” orientation=“horizontal” category=“news”] [recent_posts count=“4” orientation=“horizontal” category=“news” offset=“4”] - within a Classic Text element

I want to use the Classic Text element in the same way for some upcoming events within MEC. Within MEC I have a category ‘mec-upcoming-events’ but when I change category “news” to category “mec-upcoming-events” it doesn’t work. Am I trying to do something that cannot be done?

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! The recent posts element or shortcode can only be used to display posts or portfolio items. It does not allow to display any other custom post type the the MEC events. If you want to display the recent events, please use the supplied MEC shortcode instead. You can check it here: http://webnus.net/dox/modern-event-calendar/#line6_2
