Masonry not working on fresh install

Posts only show on my second X-THEME site (www.spirit1901.co.uk/hub/) when I’m in standard mode, and disappear as soon as I switch to Masonry, and this is consistent across all four stacks.

Am successfully using masonry on my first site (www.american-v.co.uk/hub/ – on Integrity stack) without a problem, so can be reasonably certain that it isn’t a browser or platform issue.

I can only think that I’ve switched something off somewhere, but this is very early days in terms of the site’s design and there are very few plug-ins, having been more concerned with providing a distinctive identity for the second site. First site is registered, second isn’t yet but will be if I can can achieve what I want with it.

Any clues would be welcome.

Hi There,

Please manually update your Cornerstone plugin to the latest version.

Regards!

Thanks Thai, that sorted it easily enough … I don’t understand why the American-V site is happy with 2.1.7, though.

Is it perhaps because Spirit is on 6.01 and American-V still on 5.2.5?

If so, will American-V break when it auto-updates in a couple of days time? And if so, should I upgrade Cornerstone to v3.0.1 on American-V in anticipation - assuming it works with X 5.2.5?

Best,

Cornerstone 3.0 and 6.0 (and their point releases) were released in tandom. The latest X relies on changes in the latest Cornerstone. If you have a site on X 5.2.5 and Cornerstone 2.1.7 it should continue working just fine. When you do update that site, make sure both X and Cornerstone are updated at the same time.

Thanks for that. Having downloaded 6.01 for the new site, I expected it to have the latest Cornerstone bundled in it.

Oddly, I didn’t think I was using Cornerstone, as I haven’t been clicking on the specific Cornerstone options, but shows what I know: this is all new to me.

Thanks for your quick response

It has the latest version included, but won’t automatically update to it. If you ever manually update X you’ll need to manually update Cornerstone as well. Another thing you could do is delete Cornerstone entirely and go to the X validation page in your dashboard. X will automatically reinstall Cornerstone from the bundled version (always compatible).

Good to know. Thanks.

I had to delete Cornerstone 2.1.7 from Spirit1901.co.uk in order to install 3.01, but I have no idea where the validation page for X is on American-V - which has got the full paid license. That’s much closer to happening now, now that I’ve got better control and masonry back.

It shows as an option on Spirit, which I haven’t validated yet, but as you know that is already running 6.01.

Cheers

Hi There,

Under X menu you will see the validation link which is similar to X -> Overview section earlier.

Thanks!

Indeed it does look very similar, but I can’t see any way to initiate a manual update on 5.2.5

Thanks for the ongoing attention.

On X 5 it would be the “Overview” page. But if you’re running X 5 there, you’re probably still running Cornerstone 2. If that’s the case I would recommend just waiting until the automatic update notification shows up.

If you want to update manually, you can read about the manual update process here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62

I am, hence the enquiry: when the X auto-update is available, will Cornerstone auto-update at the same time?

And if not, will my Integrity site with masonry stop working?

Best

Hi There,

Yes, that is always been the case when a new version of X is release a new version of Cornerstone will be released as well.

That was an incompatibility issue and might happen again if you have an incompatible version of X and Cornerstone. A rule of thumb here would update both if we release an update, or don’t update either X or Cornerstone if you don’t plan to update both.

You can always refer to the Apex dashboard page for the latest versions.

Cheers!

Thanks for that: I’ve just noticed that both are now available for auto-updating.

Cheers
