Maps blank

My maps on this dev site: https://devhps.site/local-groups/

Only appear the second time you view the page. Try loading that page and see if there are any markers, then refresh the page.

I’ve deactivated ALL the plugins - still can’t get the markers to appear.

Here’s the JS console: https://share.cleanshot.com/F95jsc26

And yes I did disable ALL the plugins. I’m going to switch on Wordfence, but that’s all.

Bill.

Hello Bill,

Thanks for writing in! I could not replicate the issue when I checked your site. The markers are there and there aren’t any errors in the console.

This could just be a caching error. Try to clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode and test the site again.

Best Regards.

Here’s a video of the symptom: https://share.cleanshot.com/DNSMLdxq

  • Firefox and Chrome, both show the same behaviour, as does a Safari private window
  • No caching enabled
  • Almost all plugins deactivated

Can you try again? All I do is keep refreshing the page, and eventually the pins disappear.
My users can see this too on the live site.

Thanks, Bill.

I tried testing it on Windows and Edge using BrowserStack and got this partial load:

This was Windows 11 with Edge latest build.

Windows 10 with Chrome

Here’s the live site which shows the issues, and on my phone: https://hardy-plant.org.uk/local-groups/

The map pins disappear after loading.

Hello Bill,

This is what I’ve got when using Chrome on my Android phone

When using the Chrome browser on my Mac, the issue seems intermittent. I will forward this issue to our developers and add it to the issue tracker so that they can investigate this issue further.

Best Regards.

Can we run some tests on your dev site Bill next week or the week after? I might need FTP access. I couldn’t tell you what’s going wrong besides how the markers are created are very strange so we’re going to rework how they are created on our end and see if that fixes your issue.

Please do - it’s in all our interests! Let me know if you need FTP. I’ve switched off most of the plugins.

Do you want to check if the issue is showing up for you anymore on your dev site? It’s running an updated version of the google maps integration. Thanks.

Thanks @charlie - it seems to be working reliably for me.

Music to my ears. I have to update the map shortcodes as well and we should be able to release that fix in a release or two. Have a great day.
