Trying to pick up this new UI. I need to add a map marker/pin in the Map Element for Cornerstone. It used to be readily apparent and easy to do. Can someone point me in the right direction to add a map marker to the element?
Hello @bbowers,
Thanks for writing in! For the time being, the new v2 Map Element does not contain a way to add map markers. This has to do with the fact that map markers are technically “nested elements,” which we used to show in the old builder by using a sortable control (similar to what is used for sections, rows, et cetera). However, as v2 controls must be utilized in both a vertical layout for the Content Builder and a horizontal layout for the Header and Footer Builders in our Pro theme, a static sortable will break these layouts. We have some notes on how we plan to introduce this functionality going forward, but have other items to introduce first before we can get to this.
That being said, the v2 Map Element includes a huge update, that allows for completely custom styling of the map output itself using the link in the tool to the Google Maps APIs Styling Wizard. Below are a few screenshots of what you can achieve using the new v2 Map Element:
So while the v2 Map Element opens up an entirely new world of styling options for the map itself, it does not yet contain the ability to add map markers (but we have plans for it as noted above).
If map markers are absolutely essential to what you are doing, you can still utilize the Classic Map Element and add map markers to that, you just won’t have all the styling power for the map itself that the v2 Map Element has.
Hopefully that helps to clear things up. Cheers!
Hi,
The new map element is really cool, however what’s the point of having a map with no markers? it’s completely useless.
And since the classic element map doesn’t look good, both elements are currently useless.
Any workaround to add a marker to V2 map?
Hello,
For now, we don`t have a specific date to implement this. You can wait for further releases or hire a freelancer to customize the classic Google maps elements.
Just another voice to say that while the new map is feature rich it is pretty useless without the points. We have a specific usage of tracking historic markers that a local DAR chapter has placed in Colorado. Without points it is sadly just a map and hiring a freelancer is not an option.
Make this one vote to move this up on the implementation list for next release.
Hey,
Thanks for your feedback. This is on our radar. In the meantime, you can use the Classic Map element if the map marker is essential to you. But we do plan to include this in the new V2 element as soon as possible
