Map element - Google API - wrong location

Hello I have added a test Map element on my page. I’ve secured a Google API key and assigned and added my Lat Long, but the map always shows in China somewhere and it should be in the USA. Any ideas?

Hello Richard,

Thanks for writing in!

Please edit your page and check your map settings. Make sure that the Zoom Level option is set with a decent amount. By default, it is 12.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Runel -

It’s odd. I’ve got all that set up. Still doesn’t work. I’ve regenerated the Key as well. Here is the sample page.

The type of API key we should use is… Maps JavaScript API right?

Hi Richard,

I have been working with the Google Maps API a lot recently - just wanted to make sure you’d added credit/debit card details in to the Google Cloud Platform for billing. You can add API keys - but unless you are ‘validated’ by adding a card my experience is that those keys won’t work - even if you are just trying to use the free API functions like the Javascript API and Places API.

You can add your billing details here - https://console.cloud.google.com/billing

Kind Regards

Mark

Hey Mark,

Thanks for chiming in!

Cheers.

Hi Mark - thanks for this. I had been asked about this by a tech support person the other day. We had some issues with my account getting tied to my non-work account, which we resolved. I didn’t have any luck even after adding my billing and account info. Weird. Maybe it does take some time to propagate…

Cheers. I’ll let everyone know what fixes it.

Rich
