Manual update to 2.2 issues

Hi. I really needed to get on with the building my footer with skeleton view and I couldn’t wait any longer for the official release. I followed the guide for manual FTP (download 2.2, extract, rename pro to pro-updating, copy over to themes dir, rename old pro to pro-previous, rename pro-updating to pro).

This seemed to work fine, I made some changes to my footer, and initially had a save error (‘uh-oh, failed to save!’), but tried again and the save worked. Then I made some more changes and noticed the editor was not showing the updated text. The whole builder went sluggish, then the preview quit, and now the whole builder is unresponsive, and intermittently the site won’t load. The new additions worked fine for the small amount of time that the update was functioning, so I’m reluctant to go back - have you any suggestions? Link as secure note. Thanks.

It seems to have calmed down. Just managed to make a couple of changes and save without issue.

It could have been a caching issue. The site could have been trying to use files from the previous version which wouldn’t properly interface with files run on the server in the new version.

If you run into anything else let us know. It would help to see the builder errors first hand so if you provided login credentials in a secure note we could look at it more closely.

@alexander I was hoping that it was something as benign as a caching issue but because it worked fine first and then started to mess up, I got a little spooked. I will keep on using it and if anything suspicious crops up I’ll be more than happy to provide log in details for you to investigate.

So far so good though. Time/life saving update!!

Hi @doughballs,

Yes, please let us know once you get any issue regarding this again and we’ll check. Glad it’s working now.

Cheers!
