I’m still trying to finish a rather uncomplicated vertical menu and every step of the way leaves me scratching my head.

Hey James,
The cause of the issue is the negative top and bottom margins you’ve set for your Top Links. It’s actually not the Sub Indicator that’s causing that. Your setup look like this.
Please set all those margins to 0 and your menu will look like the screenshot below after you’ve disabled the Sub Indicator.
Also, so you won’t have to scroll always, you can take advantage of the Element’s Navigation just above the options.
And, once you’ve enabled a feature like the Graphic, the graphic options will be available in the right of the switch and all other options will be pushed to the right according to the Element Navigation order.
