Looper with Current Terms creating Duplicate Terms

Hello,

We’ve created a Looper with current terms and it outputs duplicates.

It’s based on a custom taxonomy called “Topics”.

On a category page, we have a Looper Consumer followed by a Looper Provider and Looper Consumer.

Any ideas as to why it outputs duplicate terms?

Hello @NinjaTeX,

Thanks for writing in! How is the “Topics” taxonomy related to the Category? If it is independent, you can just use a single Looper.

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel,

It’s dependent on the Category. For example, if on the Education Category page we only want to show Topics that are also categorized as Education.

What do you suggest?

Hello @NinjaTeX,

If we edit a Topic taxonomy, we can see this:

There is nothing that connects a topic to the category taxonomy. You use topic and category independently for a single post item.

If on the Education category archive page, you want to display the current Topics which is the Community Engagement, then you will have to use the Current Post Terms > Topics and do not wrap it in a Looper.

Best Regards.

Thanks @ruenel.

You added one topic - “Community Engagement”

We would like to add all the topics that exist which share the category “Education”.

How do we implement that?

Hi @NinjaTeX,

If you use the Current Post Terms or All The Terms you can select the specific taxonomy and, in your case, i.e. Topic. It will include all the terms under that.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

@tristup we have “Current Post Terms” with “Topic” selected and it’s outputting duplicates for each topic.

Please see our original post at the top of this chain.

Selecting “All The Terms” will show topics that are not categorized as Education.

Can you take a look and let us know why “Current Post Terms” is outputting duplicates?

Hello @NinjaTeX,

The only connection between the “Education” category and the “Community Engagement” Topic taxonomy is the post item. You can display the taxonomies using the Looper Provider Current Post Terms. I do not think there is another way to display other taxonomies that are related to the “Education” category that is not assigned to the post item.

Hope this makes sense.
