Looking for help with buddypress activation email. Problem with the activation key

Hi currently when a user signs up on my website they are emailed an activation email through buddypress. This email has a link that when a user clicks on the activation key should automatically populate in the required field. However, instead the user has to copy and paste this key into the required field. Everything is up to date. I am using the buddypress nouveau template. I checked my buddypress activate.php and compared it to a buddypress activate.php on github and everything appears the same. I am very new to working on websites and I’m looking for any ideas or help on how to get the activation key to automatically populate in the required field.
