Live Site Just Changed

Hi.

My live site has shrunk in size. It now has space on the right, space on top, the headers are messed up, and everything is a bit scrunched.

I updated to .11 a few days ago with no issues. Everything was working great with my set up. No conflicts.

Then today, I was editing a page, went to check it live, and my whole site has changed. I didn’t do anything with styling.

I can’t figure it out. Is there something that changed on assignments or universal widths in .11 that might cause this?

Thanks.

I don’t want to waste your time with this. I discovered that this does have something to do with my cache plugin. I don’t know if you can advise on this.

My argument is though, that it was all fine. I’ve spent weeks tweeking my speed. It is with my CSS. Is there a possible setting from the update that would cause the conflict?

The behavior is - The correct site will try to load in a flash. You can see it. Then it loads in the shrunken version. Everything is in place. It just only fills part of the page.

An update -

If I turn off “CSS Combine External and Inline” it goes away but hurts my performance. With it on, the pages load correctly and then shrink as though they’re being overridden by something.

Thanks for any help.

I’ve installed two other themes and they both showed full width. Pro still shows 3/4 page site. This is with the same plugin setup I’ve been using with Pro for the last 3 weeks with no issues. I tested with all my custom CSS removed. The issue persists.

Again though, we do know that it’s the cache plugin that’s in conflict with Pro. However, it worked fine with Pro before the update and works fine with the other two themes I tested.

I made sure the other themes were bing processed by my plugin and it stated it on both theme outputs. The Pro pages also say they’re optimized.

Just like when you added “priorities” to headers and footers, there’s something that’s not obvious to me. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for writing in! Just for future topics, self responding or bumping your post pushes it back in our Queue system so it takes longer to respond to.

The issue is just your caching plugins. You have installed the LiteSpeed cache plugin. After doing the updates (as in every time) always remember to clear all caches (if you are using LiteSpeed, WP Rocket, WP SuperCache, or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

The combined CSS and other minified CSS/JS resource files should also be regenerated so that the latest code from the latest update will be loaded and not the old cached version.

And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

Best Regards.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes. It’s always been that simple. However, this time, I’ve done all you suggest so many times and I still get this issue. I keep thinking that this time it will all just pop back into place.

Knowing it may be a plugin issue, I really didn’t want to bother this forum with it. Because I can’t fix it and it happened at the update, I posted here. I’ve been through your troubleshooting guide. And the change logs. I removed some classic elements thinking they might be the issue.

I’ve been in touch with litespeed forum and their suggestions didn’t work. I’m sorry about bumping the post. I just kept thinking of detail and my progress.

I understand if this is outside the scope of what you advise on. I’m just hopeful you can see what I’m missing. It should be as simple as you say. I’ve never had an issue with Pro and cache plugin compatibility.

If you looked at my site, and it looked fine, it is because I have “CSS Combine External and Inline” turned off to make it look right… That’s it. In my entire cache plugin. Everything else about it is just as I had it. My site looks great. I love it. There are no flaws in the software or the front end other than now it loads and then shrinks when I have“CSS Combine External and Inline” turned on.

I can turn it on or you can duplicate it. It had just been that way for a few days and my mobile was off the screen.

Any replies to this will be appreciated.

Thank again.

Hello Steve,

It’s been several hours since you have deactivated the"CSS Combine External and Inline" option. Please make sure to clear all your plugin caches and then enable the option. We can then check later on if the issue comes back.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, that didn’t work. I completely dumped everything with the cache and started over and still no change.

I may have found something else though. I’m not sure.

I bypassed litespeed by opening the site with this -

In the head inside file “x-generated-css” I find the following line of code.

It appears odd to possibly be my custom CSS. So I removed my css, cleared everything, restarted litespeed, cleared everything, and tested again. There is still no change.

Also, again with litespeed off, even with my custom CSS removed, this code is still there.

Is this something ? If not, I’m still stuck.

The custom CSS I had added is this -

.blog .site {
background-color: white;
}

Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Steve,

I have checked the mentioned URL and I could not find the custom CSS. When I check the CSS, this is the only code I got:

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you for the reply.

That’s odd. You can bypass litespeed and open the site without any cacheing with this link -

From there open view page source and see the “x-generated-css”.

At the end of the “x-generated-css”, there is this jumbled line -

Is this causing a problem? Should it be there like that?

I would leave the site in it’s messed up state for you to check. However, currently, you guys are real busy and it takes a while for you to reply. Almost 2 days this time. It’s no problem. I’m not complaining. I just don’t want to leave my site disabled that long.

An Update - This is what’s happening to the very last of “x-generated-css” -

Screen Shot pro-x

This is with all cacheing off and all my custom CSS removed - I kept removing my CSS one piece at a time. Each time, the code at the end would change but it’s always messed up like this.

Again, you can open my site with the link above and it will show without cacheing. Open view page source and you can see this at the end of “x-generated-css”.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Steve,

As you said if the cache plugin is disabled your website is just looking fine. Then you need to tweak your cache plugin settings to make your website work as it should be. Tweaking 3rd party plugins is outside the scope of our theme support. You may seek 3rd party developers to help you with your problems or you can avail One where we can answer questions outside of the features of our theme.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Fortunately, I don’t have to go that way.

This is resolved.

Google Chrome was out of date and needed to be updated. After all I’ve done to try to fix this, I missed that. It’s hard to imagine it would cause such an issue.

Thank you again.

Hi Steve,

We’re glad that the issue was already solve on your end. If you have any other concerns regarding our theme features, feel free to reach us.
