Link to Scroll Header

Hello Support!!!

Haven’t written in lately. Mostly because you folks are awesome at what you do and whatnot.

So I’m hoping you might be able to help me here. I’m looking to create a button / link to scroll or move ‘scrolling’ header content to the left or right a certain px amount on click.

I’m thinking a ScrollLeft Jquery script will do it but I can’t seem to get the code right. I’ve found some help within the forum, but nothing has got me there thus far. Check below for example and what I’ve done so far.

A - This page has two tabs and I’ve created links within the panels to help navigate content.

B - This is the page that needs help. There are going to be 8+ tab panels here and rather than having a bunch of navigation tabs, I’ve hidden that tab list and created a custom header for this page with scrolling content. I’ve got the navigation in place and I can scroll that content via hover > scroll, but I need something visible and clickable there to help navigate in case the mouse isn’t in the right place. I’m going for a left and right arrow that scroll that specific header bar’s content say 30px on click. Ideally the arrow would disappear once you’ve reached the farthest in that direction.

Hopefully I've been clear here in what I'm trying to achieve and you can help me out. Thank ya.

Hello Kale,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully, this particular customization request is outside the scope of our support as this is not related to an issue with the theme and instead has to do with your customization of it. As such, you will need to investigate this particular issue on your own or seek help from a developer should you not feel comfortable making these changes yourself.

Please note that custom coding is outside the scope of our support. Issues that might arise from the use of custom code and further enhancements should be directed to a third party developer.

Thank you for your understanding.

RueNel,

Copy that. I do have to say that I find support here in the forum very contradictory and to a point, pointless. What I have asked above can be found requested and sparsely addressed here in the forum. There are links to previous threads that lead you no where. And when I ask for help, it is often met with 'outside our scope' default responses.

I love this theme and appreciate beyond words what Kyle and krew have developed. But when you have a header element that is designed to have scrolling content, wouldn't you see it being fitting if not necessary to have a button to navigate that content when the ability to scroll isn't overly apparent?

My second approach to navigate tab panels would be to use the tab list provided but have a 'show more / show less' option available. If I have 20 tabs, why in the world would anyone, outside the rare fit within design, want to have half of a viewport clogged with tabs and then have to scroll accordingly to view the content.

Just relaying some of my frustration here. The product you guys deliver keeps taking me further down the road here. But the further I travel, the more alone I feel. When I ask next to anything from support, I receive none. When I search the forum I see support with customizations scoping far beyond my request. There are steps skipped or foresight dismissed in creating elements that you provide which are not completely thought out. And there is no support behind it to clean up the mess.

Long story short, I have great hope and confidence in the future of Themeco and Pro. Very little for the support behind it.

Hi @inhabitcreatively,

Thanks for understanding, but I also like to clarify what we can and can’t do in the forum.

We as support can only cover and provide support to the product itself including its existing features, bugs, and issues. Any addition requested by clients will be forwarded or added as feature request as we have no capability to create it since we’re not the developer.

We can’t provide custom development either that is beyond the features and functionality of the theme and the builder. But, if we’re familiar with the question or issue, and only requires few lines, and easy to implement then why not, we’ll be more happy to provide it. And that’s going to be a personal recommendation or help which is only good for the moment it’s given especially for that specific setup. Any given snippet is user’s responsibility, they could enhance it and maintain it but we as support can’t cover and support it.

And when it’s outside the theme and cornerstone’s existing feature and function, we as support have different understanding and knowledge, so each of us may answer your questions differently. Again, it’s also depends on complexity.

As of now, your request is a bit complex and similar to creation of jQuery library that integrates to header. And that’s something we can’t currently help with.

Thanks again for understanding.
