Link to ID tag so that the linked section loads vertically centered

Hello there,

I have a long homepage with a nav bar that links to different sections of that page. The links work, but they land on the corresponding section slightly off center (a little bit lower). Can you tell me what I need to do to get the sections are vertically aligned when the links are clicked?

Many, many thanks,
L

Hey L,

I checked your site that has a one page navigation and clicked on the links and the landing of one page navigation is correct. The section lands right below the Navbar.

Would you mind giving us more details or screenshot showing that it’s off center? Please also give us WordPress Admin access so we could see your exact setup. Right now, I’m confused why one of your page is not using the Fixed Top header so it looks like you have made some modifications? If so, please temporarily remove them except for the Masthead you turned position absolute so the content will go up.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your help. I’ll send a secure follow up note with my wp login.

I’ve attached a link with screenshots of what happens when the nav links are clicked now, and what my boss would like to happen. The links take you just a little bit above the corresponding section on the y-axis.

The top nav has some styling and is set up so that it doesn’t display on smaller devices (Superfly is set up for mobile). If the fixed top header is not in use, that was probably an accident on my part and I can try to fix it if it will help.

Thank you,
L

Thanks for the screenshot. That alone helped me understand what’s going on. It’s because of the default top and bottom padding of the section. You have not seen it because the padding options are only available in Advanced Mode.

You can enable Advanced Mode in the Preferences dialog which you can access by clicking the gear icon in the lower left corner in the builder.

Once Advanced Mode is enabled, you can set the top padding to 0. Posted in the secure note, please watch the screencast I’ve recorded to see that the solution works.

Hope that helps.
