Link Behavior Different in X Than WP in General

With WP and other premium WP themes, when you are creating a link, you just highlight text and ctrl-v and the link is linked. But in X you actually highlight text, then click the link button at top. Why the extra step in x, behaving differently than WP in general?

It wasn’t in regard to an element…It was in a basic post. Of course, now that I bring it up, it’s woking fine. But it hadn’t in the 5 weeks I’ve been working with the theme!
