I’m using the lightbox shortcode, but when using a smaller device the images don’t scale too nicely (especially on my phone). Clicking/tapping on the next and previous pictures to navigate works fine, but there’s not always a part of them visible. And when I start swiping, things get broken pretty quickly:

Seems that my problem was having the lightbox shortcode after every image element in the article. Deleting all but the last one seems to have fixed it.

Yes, you need to use only one lightbox shortcode.
