Layout builder for some product pages, customised layout for others

Hi there.

I would like a shop where some product pages are determined by a layout (as defined in the Cornerstone layout builder) and some product pages have a customised layout. The conditions set for the layout ind the layout builder is all products except the product page names ‘Test product’. However, in Cornerstone I don’t seem to be able to customise the layout on the Test product page. Have a look and you can see that the section / row / column / text added is not displaying. What am I missing, please?

Thanks.

Hi @nblund,

Thanks for reaching out.
If I am able to understand the problem here is to assign a Layout to the Test Product. I have created a Test Product layout and added the assignment condition as shown in the given screenshot and it worked perfectly fine.

If that is not the case, please elaborate on the matter a bit for further assistance.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

Not quite. Since I will be making more customised product pages lige the Test Product page, I would have to make a layout in the layout builder. It could work, but is it necessary - I wonder if there is a way whereby I could just make the layout on the Test Product page without making a layout for that particular page?

Hope it makes sense. Thanks.

Hey @nblund,

“I wonder if there is a way whereby I could just make the layout on the Test Product page without making a layout for that particular page?”

  • No, there isn’t. That is because, even if you edit the Test Product page in the builder, if there is a WC Single layout that is assigned to all single products, then the Test Product page will just use the WC Single layout. You will need to create another Test WC Single layout and assign it to the Test Product page as mentioned by @Tristup.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks @ruenel,

I think I get it, but just to be totally sure: In my scenario I will assign a WC single layout to four products specifically. All subsequent product pages will be customised. The subsequent product pages do not have any layout defined (because the WC single layout’s condition is set to the four / named product pages only). If I understand you correctly, even then I should make a customised layout and assign the layout to the specific product page in question.

I would appreciate, if you could confirm.

Hey @nblund,

Here is what the scenario will be:

  • If you created a WC Single layout and assigned this layout to 4 specific products, the rest of all your products will be using the theme’s default WooCommerce single product layout.

  • If you create TWO WC Single layout, assigned the first WC Single layout to the 4 product items and then the second WC Single layout to the rest of your product items.

Hope this helps.
