Layout builder archive overwriting

I have several archive pages which are now being overwritten by the styles and headline on the layout builder archive page. This a big problem. All of my archive headlines now say “Message Archive”, which they are not. All of the CSS is being over-written and the images on the press release archive are not rendering now.
This is the message archive which I haven’t finished styling yet. https://www.snpnyc.org/category/message-archive/

Here are the archive pages that are now not rendering properly since creating the layout builder archive page:

Please advise on how to fix this. Thanks in advance for your help

Hello @Jennine,

Thanks for writing in!

You are having this issue because you have just inserted “Message Archive” in your custom archive layout. And this layout is assigned to all your archive pages.

To get this resolved, you will have to use {{dc:archive:name}} dynamic content so that the headline will change dynamically displaying the archive title instead.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

ok but thats just one of the problems. The CSS on all of my archive pages is being completely overwritten my the “message” archive page built from the layout builder. Using this tool has compromised the design completely. Please see the 2 examples in the attached screenshot. I need to have my previous pages back.

Hello Jennine,

Your previous Press Release and News Stories are pages that use the Press Archives and News Archives page template.

The message archive, news post, and press release are category archive pages. This is why your custom CSS was not applied. The CSS is for the page and not for the category pages. To best resolve this, you will have to create a separate layout for each category with its own design styling without using any CSS.

Hope this makes sense.

how can I just change to back so that the css is applied again? Can I just delete the message archive page from layout builder?
all of those archive pages were custom coded and took many hours to do. I do not want to have to rebuild them.
All of my archive pages had the proper CSS and rendered perfectly before using the layout builder tool to build the message page. I would like it to be the way it was perviously.
Thank you

Hi Jennine,

I went ahead and modified the conditions in your Message Archive layout into a “Post Category” so that only in this category archive page the layout will display.

All the other pages were now restored.

Thank you Thank you Thank you sooo much!!! :hugs:

you are most welcome @Jennine.
