Layers flikker/disappear

When I work within Rev Slider the slide with animations in the preview is running smoothly but when I view my site in the browser, the animations stuck. For example, a logo that should appear with fade in and should stay till the end of the slide duration suddenly disappears halfway. It happen both within Firefox, IE as well Chrome. This is just a one slide slider as the loading time is too long. It has a one image and one text frame. My impression is that this slide even take tooo long to load. Does the existence of many other slider sets negatively influence the loading time?

Hey @vdongen,

There are many factors that could cause slider issues. One is the contents in your slider especially images are heavy. Images needs to be optimized so they load fast. You can use a plugin like ShortPixel to optimize your images. Another thing is Javascript conflicts either caused by a third party plugin and / or optimizations.

Here’s a checklist of possible solutions.

Please try the solutions and let us know if they work.

I just did change some settings in General Settings of RS and follow up the plugin de-activation/activation process. This has not solved the issue (appearence of logo and text). The background page is only 48Kb.

I did clean all cache. After the first loading the page, reloading using F5 (without Ctrl) results in the logo and text sometimes to appear bad (or disappear) and sometimes good. I tested in with three internet browsers, all the same result.

Actually, what is new is that the website contents after the slider page is directly visible and then after 20 seconds the RS starts loaded with first the spinner. After another 20 seconds the slider contents is loaded.
Previously, the RS page was only visible at first.

Hey @vdongen,

The issue with your logo and text is not performance but rather, you’ve missed the “Wait till slides end” option. Please see the Animation Timeline & Layer Sorting section of Slider Revolution’s documentation.

Now your logo and text does not disappear.

Regarding the loading issue, I remember an issue I encountered before and it is due to how Slider Revolution loads the background. Could you try removing the background? If it works, could you try setting the background image as a layer instead for us to compare the performance and so we could submit this issue to Slider Revolution developer for further investigation.

Thanks.

I did set the “Wait till slides end” option, but this did not solve my problem.

I have set the background as layer but do not have it a full size. However, it does not solve the loading issue. You may have a look in the back admin.

Hi there,

I see that it now has one slide, I also see the logo, image, and text working fine and it stays there without disappearing. Please note that you have a caching, and any change you made may not take effect instantly even if you purposely cleared the cache (based on my experience).

And base on your given information, it should display instantly without the loading icon? Right?

Thanks!

Ok, I think it may be a cache issue. The slide is very basic and I think this should run flawless.
My second issue, when I load the site, the contents after the RS still appears first then the RS starts loading with the spinner. This did not happen before yesterday. Christian already wrote about it.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I could not replicate the second question which you are experiencing. Kindly create a test page and add the slider there. Then give us the link to that page to check and see what is the problem.

Thank you.

Sorry, I did delete the RS as it takes too long to load while I am updating the site. I have placed it back.

Hi there,

I checked your website using the Chrome browser and there is no effect showing part of the slider before the loading:

Would you please kindly give us a screencast to see which section you are talking about?

Also, I asked for a new test page to have only the slider. Kindly do that as it will isolate other probable causes and it will focus on the slider only.

Anyway I could not see what you were talking about. I used Google Chrome Browser.

Thank you.

When loading, it shows first the page “Superior vehicle tracking…” and then it jumps to the slider starting with the spinner. Before it directly starts with showing the spinner/slider without jumping to the contents after it.

I enabled the Preset Slider Height option. That should allocate space for your slider while waiting for it to load. I can’t see the effect immediately most probably because of some caching in your system.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, the problem still persists. I deleted all cache from three browsers and also deactivated plugins that may have any influence. I also tested on the PC of my colleague, same issue.

Hi there,

That is the only option available in the Revolution Slider to prevent the jumping which you have described. If it is not working then it might be something related to the Revolution Slider and it might be a bug.

You can test that by installing a fresh WordPress and add a Revolution Slider it and test the setting. If it works for you on another installation then it is definitely the problem of the Cache on your installation. If it is not working on the other installation then it should be a bug from Revolution Slider.

Kindly get back to us with the result of the test, so if it is a bug we can report it to the Revolution Slider developers.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Installing a new WP will compromise the existing website. Also, I am not able to install for another domain as this requires an additional RS license. I tried other RS templates and on other PC’s to avoid cache issues, but the issue remains. I remember that the loading issue starts after I have changed some RS settings. May be you can have look at the files that stores the settings.

I disabled Insert Javascript into Footer in the Global Settings for Slider Revolution and it does not jump now (see Secure Note)

Thanks.

Thanks Christian, its also working from here. I noticed that the loading time of this one-slide RS is also quite long from your side. Our server is in the UK. Any advice? The pictures is only 48Kb.

I created a test slider and added it in a test page and it loads fast.

The I did not use the background feature in there but I added the image as a layer.

This is how Slider Revolution loads the background. I’m not sure what’s causing it to load slow. In my test site, the slider loads fast even using the image as a background. The load time might improve if you use a caching plugin. Please note though that it might cause issues. It needs to be setup by a professional or a service like https://wpspeedguru.com/

Thanks.
