Latest version of cornerstone throwing errors in google pagespeed insights

Latest version of cornerstone is throwing errors in google page speed insights. Its serving legacy js, which was fixed in the much older version. You can test it from here: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/

I will also appreciate if you can fix the time to interactive on mobile devices, which I am fairly confident is related to both theme x and cornerstone. Its not just plugins.

Hi @Bark201,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked your website that is listed in the Themeco account dashboard with Google Page Insight and didn’t find the issue you mentioned in your comment. Can you please let us know how did you get that issue, and explain the steps how we can replicate it on our end? I would also request you provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Why did you check my website and not cornerstone? I don’t recall asking you to check. I used the old version. Test the new version WITH YOUR WEBSITE with the latest version of cornerstone instead of mine and you will see it. Please provide a fix for it.

In the past it took several hours to get a reply. Nowadays its over 24 hours.

Hello @Bark201,

Your feedback has been noted. Our developers have been informed about the issue.

It is our goal to respond to all product support questions within 24 hours, although typically much sooner. All questions are answered in the order received, and it is always our goal to respond as fast as possible.

The higher number of support questions means that it would take us several hours to answer the question. It also depends on the complexity of the question.

Best Regards.

2 years ago it did not take more than a few hours even when there were dozes of support topics. Regarding cornerstone, please also note that I am also getting warnings for that cornerstone js file on mobile devices, ‘Remove unused JavaScript.’ It looks like the cornerstone js is loading unnecessary files in mobile devices when they view the website. I am certain you can also test it on your end.

Hello @Bark201,

Again, this has been submitted to our issue tracker.
Please allow our developers to investigate the issue further.

Please bear with us.

These are 2 separate issues.

  1. Avoid serving legacy legacy javascript to modern browsers.

  2. Remove unused javascript (only on mobile devices).

The JS file is cornerstone js in both of the above:

/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs.js

Hi @Bark201,

It has been already reported by my colleague to our issue tracker for further investigation and fix.

Thanks

I’m also encountering these issues. What’s the timeline for resolution?

Hi Marilou,

We don’t have any estimated time when will be the issue resolve but our developers are already aware of it. You can always check the status report for updates here.

Thank you.
