Last cornerstone plugin update broke my site

Hello,

For some reason the last cornerstone update broke my website. The link is hardingsoftware.com. Cornerstone won’t load anymore and I can’t even manage to get the “under construction” plugin working.

Please tell me what I can do to fix this ASAP.

Thanks,
Clayton

Hey Clayton,

The usual cause of that is optimization plugins. Please do the following potential solutions that usually solves common issues like what you’ve described.

  1. Testing For Plugin Conflict
  2. Theme Update
  3. Child Theme
  4. Css/Js Customization
  5. Increasing Php Memory Limit
  6. Version Compatibility

Only if none of that helps, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin username and password
  • FTP access

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thanks.

Hi Christian. These things seem to check out on my end but I may be wrong. I linked the secure note so you guys can take a look. I know that I am getting a prompt to upgrade my version of PHP, so that may be the issue as well (although I can’t see why it would be).

Please let me know what you find and thank you again!

Hello Clayton,

Thanks for updating in! The issue is because you have left the X theme from being outdated (6.3.8). Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.2.3
  • Cornerstone 4.2.3

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (like if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache, or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hey there.

I had done all the necessary updates and now am prompted with the following when viewing my site. Let me know if you had ever seen this before and what the fixes would be for this issue.

Hey Clayton,

This error looks like something form the very old PHP version. Make sure that you use PHP version 5.6.x or 7.1.x or 7.2.x. Contact your hosting service provider to make sure that you do not have an old version of the PHP.

Let us know how this goes!

It ended up working! I just contacted my host and they updated it. Thank you again!

Hi Clayton,

Great that it resolved now.

Thanks
