Language switch and multiple headers

Hi,

I am using Polylang to create German language versions of my English language pages and this works well.

I am using different colored headers, and the menu changes language correctly depending on the language of the page.

However, when I want to change other items in the header, for example the logo which needs to have a link to the German homepage in the German section of the site, things become difficult.

Pro will only let me edit the english header. I cannot create a copy of an english header and assign it to the german page. It simply does not show up in the assignment field.

Compare for example this page:
https://haranand.com/
With this page:
https://haranand.com/home-de/

… the menu changes correctly but the other items in the header need to direct to the german pages as well and this would require a new header that i can assign to the german page.

Can you help?
Thanks
Jelmar

Hi Jelmar,

Thank you for writing in, regarding;

That should be automatic, try setting your language from the directory name in pretty permalinks. See the #3 option here.

That means your URL should contain the language code.

e.g.
https://haranand.com/en/
https://haranand.com/de/

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hi, I can see how that can work, but unfortunately then X theme gives me an error.

Hi @fluxus,

Now I see what you mean. Unfortunately, our page builder can not automatically change that way as we do not have complete integration with Polylang.

I am afraid you will not be able to change the header coloring and other aspects which are Pro specific and not WordPress specific. We recommend that you use the WPML plugin which has the integration and you can copy the headers for each language and then do the changes.

Thank you for your understanding.
