Jump link/anchor to new page and section

Hello,
I am having trouble creating a link to another section on a separate page. I have set the ID of the target section. I have added the url and #sectionid to the button, but when I click the button, it just takes me to the top of the page, not the section I’ve targeted. I have been able to do this successfully within the same page. I’ve also been able to successfully create this link from an external site, however I can’t seem to make it work between separate pages on my site.

Thank you

Hello Angela,

Thanks for writing in!

Please be advised that if you want to link to a section within a page, you can use relative URL such as #section-ID in your link. If you want to link to a new page and to the section on that page, you will need to use the absolute URL path to the section. This means that your link will be https://example.com/new-page#section-ID. (Of course, you will have to replace the example.com with your own site URL).

If the above suggestion is still not clear or not working, we would love to check your link settings. You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
- Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site

Best Regards.

Thank you for responding. All of the links are set correctly. I’ve sent the secure note w/the credentials for you to take a look.
The page w/the button is: https://slesmobile.org/admissions/university-campus/
There is a grid on that page with buttons on it . The button for the international admissions cell should link to: https://slesmobile.org/admissions/university-campus/admission-process#intl-adm/

The section ID that I want as the target is: intl-adm

When I click that button, the url shows the target correctly, but it doesn’t actually move to the target. I’ve confirmed that I don’t have a duplicate target set in the first section.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Angela,

The issue is just on the link instead of using this link https://slesmobile.org/admissions/university-campus/admission-process#intl-adm/, you should use this one https://slesmobile.org/admissions/university-campus/admission-process#intl-adm

If you are asking the difference between the two of them, I just remove the / at the last of the link because it won’t work with the jump anchor link section.

Hope that helps.
