Jquery will not load for Cornerstone editor

Hello -

We have somehow got ourselves in an insane loop where JQ absolutely will not load once we try to edit a page in Cornerstone, or go into CS options. We have tried so many things I can’t even name them, but one that occurs to me is that someone maybe have put in some kind of custom JQ for the entire site within Cornerstone - that somehow is shutting it down - but now we can’t access it.

If that is the case - where could we potentially find that custom JS in the database and remove/modify it via PHPMYAdmin. Would that be the best way to try and figure that out.

I’ll include login credentials here if you want to login and see what we mean - but everything for cornerstone is a gray screen, and if you run dev tools it tells you it can’t find JQ. The functions.php file now has some stuff running, but we have already gone with zero plugins other that C/S, and a clean/minimal version of functions.php and that didn’t work either.

Thanks-

Hi @stonerome,

Thanks for reaching out.
We tried to log in to your website, but unfortunately, the WordPress admin URL is showing 404. Can you please share the Admin URL to log in? Improper update of X and Cornerstone might be one of the reasons behind your problem. I would suggest you reinstall the Cornerstone once by following the steps below, and check if that works for you.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone
  2. And use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be on the latest version

If that does not help, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Disabling Cache
6.Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd third-party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins, unless you are subscribed to One. If not subscribed, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author.

If none of the above helps, please copy your live site to a staging server so we can troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access to the secure note, including:

Thanks- yes, none of that is working. Copied over to staging - credentials will be added in a note.

Hi @stonerome,

I activated the default theme and noticed that jQuery -related console errors are appearing. This indicates that WordPress might not have been updated properly.

I recommend contacting your hosting service provider to:

  1. Check if WordPress can be updated properly, or
  2. Restore a backup of the last working version.

Once restored, you can try updating WordPress and the theme step by step. If the WordPress update goes through correctly, you can then activate the X Theme and verify if it works.

If none of these steps resolves the issue, please let us know so we can investigate further.

Thanks

I’d still like to know how I can go into PHPMyAdmin and find the entry in the database for custom JQ? I really do think the issue could reside there.

Hi @stonerome,

The jQuery code is not stored in the database . You can check within the custom JavaScript files or in any third-party plugins that may have added it.

If you’re still unable to locate it, I recommend following the steps outlined in my previous reply for further assistance.

Thanks,
