Issues/Errors with Cornerstone

Hi,

I hope all is well during these difficult times. I’m having some issues with Cornerstone that I’m hoping you can help me with.

When I try to update a page through Cornerstone, I get an error message that says “No suitable preview area found.” The preview of the page says “The Blog” at the top of a blank page. I went to Cornerstone under the X tab on the dashboard and if I try to edit any page on my website, it shows the blank page with “The Blog” at the top.

I tried deactivating any third-party plugins and clearing the cache, but I’m still having the same issues. The pages do seem to be displaying correctly on the front end of the website.

The website URL is http://thecuttingedgebarberacademy.com.

Could you please point me in the right direction to fix this error?

Thanks

Hi @patmendezstrength,

Thank you for reaching out to us. It sounds like you’re trying to edit the blog page, please note, blog or archive pages are dynamically generated by WordPress. You cannot edit them in Cornerstone not even in the default WordPress editor.

However you can edit the individual posts in Cornerstone. please see Cornerstone in post

If you’re having an issue on a regular page then you can first troubleshoot by following the steps mentioned here https://theme.co/docs/common-issues

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thanks!

Hi Nabeel,

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m definitely trying to edit a regular page, which is why I’m confused when I try to edit any page in cornerstone, it says “The Blog” at the top of a blank page. I attached a screenshot so you can see what I’m talking about. The page sections are still listed on the left, however, none are showing up.

I did follow the troubleshooting guidelines, but I didn’t have any luck. I put a secure note on my initial post with the login credentials.

Thanks for your help and hopefully we can get this figured out!

Hi @patmendezstrength,

Thank you for writing in, The Blog refers to the posts page. Is there any chance you modified the .htaccess file? Try resetting your htaccess file to Wordpress default, and clear your caches.

https://wordpress.org/support/article/htaccess/#basic-wp

If that does not work, please clone your site to a staging site so we can do further troubleshooting.

Cheers!

Good morning,

No, I’ve never modified the .htaccess file. If I reset the htaccess file, will anything happen to my current site? Also, how do I go about cloning a site to a staging site?

Thanks,

Zack

Hey Zack,

Usually some third party plugins modifies the .htaccess file and if gets corrupted, you’ll end up with non-working site. Deleting .htaccess file won’t affect your site and a fresh copy of .htaccess will be regenerated automatically.

Creating a staging site is very useful because you can do the customization and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Hope this helps!
