Issues after Update 7.0.5 - Under Construction, Front-end display and more

Hello,
we have some issues with our websites after last update:

  1. Plugin extension “Under Construction” doesn’t work properly - after entering the password there is no change and website is still locked.
  2. Width of some columns is changed by the update and can’t be changed back in editor - change of column width can be seen in Cornerstone in preview, but there is no change on front-end. We tried this on several setups including Asus (Windows 11, Firefox + Chrome), Macbook Air (OS Ventura, Chrome + Safari). Cache was cleared every time.
  3. The site crashes down after update (template is up-to-date, last version of WP) with critical error. Solution is to deactivate and then activate Cornerstone, but for our clients, who are not really tech-savvy, this is big problem and they call us in panic  Are there any precautions to make before update to prevent this from happening? Or should they wait for another improved update without bugs? Do you plan to release another de-bugged version in near future?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @nezzazvoni,

Thanks for writing in!

Before updating your WordPress core, theme and plugins in your live site, you should do the updates in a staging area first. This is to prevent your live site from going down in case there are errors and conflict with your site. In some case, the theme updates may be in conflict with an installed 3rd party plugin or with a custom PHP code you may have added in a child theme. A staging area is the safest way to have a back up of your site and a way to test the updates or troubleshoot conflicts and issues that may occur. If you haven’t been familiar in creating a staging site, you can check this out:

By the way, we cannot check your site because it does not exist.
