Issue with Duplicate Page and Cornerstone Content

Hi there,

I’m using the plugin Duplicate Page (Version 4.5.8) to duplicate posts. Until recently, I was able to edit duplicated posts normally with Cornerstone.

However, after duplicating a post now, the content seems to be missing or not interpreted correctly. When I open the post in the default editor, I can still see the Cornerstone shortcode in the content. But when I click “Edit with Cornerstone” , only the featured image and the title are visible, the entire content is gone.

It looks like Cornerstone no longer recognizes or loads the duplicated content. I can manually load a template or use “copy from existing,” but that’s not ideal for me

I updated PRO this morning, so I’m wondering if this could be related.

I’m currently using:

  • PRO Version: 6.8.6
  • WordPress Version: 6.9.4

Is this a known issue or could there be a setting affecting how content is duplicated?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Christian

Hello Christian,

Thanks for posting in! Usually, when this happens, it means that you are not using the HTML Storage option. Go to Cornerstone > Settings > Advanced. You may need to migrate to HTML Storage.

Kindly take precaution by backing up your site first before doing anything.

Best Regards.

Dear @ruenel

Thank you very much for your feedback. That’s actually the first time I heard about this and checked out this page https://theme.co/docs/content-storage. It sounds very interesting but I’m a bit reluctant to just do it – even with a backup in advance. Is there a high risk or would you recommend doing it? I built the site last year, so it’s still relatively new.

Best, Christian

Hey Christian,

It would be advisable to clone the live site to a staging area and perform the conversion there. Once you have confirmed that everything is functioning correctly, you may push the changes to the live site. Should you need guidance on cloning a site to a staging environment, please refer to this article first: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/

Cheers.
