Issue with custom cornerstone element

We have a piece of code in controls.php that was previously working and now for some reason is not.

We were able to fix this issue by using a manual cut-and-paste workaround, but we don’t understand why the previous code is no longer working.

We can send you the PHP file if you would like to take a look. It’s a little long to paste in the forum.
