Is your Snippet plugin still relevant for structured data?

Hi there, on my website I’m using yoast but I am missing structured data for google news (especially posts).
There is no markup for the post content. Is it still necessary to use your Snippet plugin for this?

Thanks for reaching out.

The Snippet extension is an easy tool to add structured data to but that is not mandatory. If you still want to use it, I would suggest you go through the following documentation on the said plugin.

If it’s not mandatory I would like to avoid the additional plugin. But what’s the issue then? I mean why is there markup for posts headlines but not for the content/ why is the post content not showing in Google News?

Can you please share to us an example URL from Google News? When I try to search form something, Google News only displays the titles and no content in the results like this one:

There are lots of factors that affect a site’s listing on Google News. Structured Data is only a part of it. That’s according to this doc https://support.google.com/news/publisher-center/answer/9607104?hl=en

Since you’re using a different structured data plugin, please reach out to the schema plugin author. You might have missed a setting.

To your question, if our Snippet plugin is still relevant, yes it is. But, if you encounter issues with it, you can report it to us, and once we replicate the issue on our sites, we’ll forward the issue to our development team.

What the Snippet plugin does is it gets data from the post (featured image, title, content, etc…). I see you’re using a custom layout but it is not connected to the structured data.

I know ultimately it’s up to Google.

What do you mean by the custom layout of my posts is not connected to structured data? Shouldn’t it have structured data by default?

No. Structured data is something a structured data plugin could do, like the Snippets plugin or any other SEO plugin that offers structured data.
