Is Convert Plus Still Working?

When building sites, I’ve added Convert Plus on a lot of then for Exit Intent Popups etc, and spent a lot of time customising things.

But it seems like it doesn’t really work?

eg on this site, https://www.waihekecustomwinetours.co.nz, there hasn’t been an impression since September.

When testing I could always see the Exit Intent popup with an incognito browser, now it never shows up.

How to get this working again?

The plugin often doesn’t update, and the Mailchimp connect addon won’t update even though everything else is…

Thanks in advance!

Hi @freedomdesign,

Thanks for reaching out.

It should be working, I went ahead and toggled off the cookies options

Then purged cache and it’s now appearing. About the updated, I can’t verify that since your plugin is already updated. As for the addon, it’s connected to ConvertPlus server so we don’t have control over it. I recommend deleting the addon and install it again, it should install the latest one.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

Thanks a lot.

This is carrying over all my sites with it on.

Eg oin this site:

The Exit intent popup isn’t working, and neither is the button to activate the Pop-up on this page:

Can you please help troubleshoot this as well?

Hello @freedomdesign,

I have logged in to your site and investigated the issue. The Convertplus did not work because it is not even loaded in your site or on any page. I have a hunch that this is just a caching issue. I ended up deactivating your SG Optimizer and when I refresh the page, the modal popup displays.

Please check your site now. I would suggest that once in a while or when you make any slight changes with your site settings, page edits or even the modal popups, clear your site cache first before testing the site.

Hi there,

Thanks for this.

I haven’t done anything to this site to make the popup stop appearing - no updates etc. It’s like it just stopped.

How can I troubleshoot and avoid this happening again?

Turning off the caching plugin isn’t a great solution going forwards

Thanks!

Hi Rad, when you say you toggled them off, did you leave it off? I have this issue on nearly every site that has the plugin, none of the sites have been updated, it just stops working. I want to keep the caching on, and enable cookies, but want it to display for new visitors etc.

Hi @freedomdesign,

When I go to your site the first time, I can see the modal which means it’s working.

With regards to toggle off, I checked your two modals and one of them have the cookies turned off. You can enable it under Repeat Control

The turning off of your cache plugin and cookies are just temporary, my colleagues was just checking what is causing the issue. You may activate them now.

For your other sites, you can test it by clearing your plugin cache and deleting cookies in your browser.

Hi there,

Thanks for this. The main issue is when I look at the history for the last month or more I see zero impressions, and the sites have had plenty of traffic, so it wasn’t just my browser.

When you say “clear plugin cache”, I regularly clear the SG Cache (Siteground) on updating plugins, but am not aware of a cache specifically within the plugin?

Cheers

Hi There,

Sometime the cookie isn’t working well with the cache sites.

You can take a look at this article: https://iamnickdavis.com/cookies-with-wordpress-caching/.

I recommend you to temporarily turn off the SG Cache then switch to another cache plugins(e.g: W3 Total Cache) to see if it fixes the issue.

Let us know how it goes!
