Internal Server Error in Frontend (500) Cornerstone / Layer Slider

Hi,
The website works fine (Back/Frontend) when logged in as Admin.
If you visit the webpage as guest, you receive a fatal error. I disabled ALL Plugins to find out, that it is causded by Layerslider in combination with the latest X Version.
If you disable Layerslider, the site works normally (which obviously is no fix).
Also: If everything is disabled, EXCEPT Layerslider and cornerstone + theme, the error occurs. So it is NO plugin conflict.

The server log shows (I removed the paths):
20492#0: 802684 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught ArgumentCountError: Too few arguments to function Cornerstone_Element_Front_End::begin_excerpt(), 1 passed in /httpdocs/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php on line 287 and exactly 2 expected in /httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/includes/classes/elements/class-element-front-end.php:40

I also attach a login for you,
thanks,

Hey Matt,

I see that LayerSlider does not work only on your server. I exported one of your sliders to my sites and it’s working fine.

Because LayserSlider is in conflict with your web host, your membership plugin ( Ultimate Member) throws the Fatal Error.

Your web host might have enabled a PHP 7.4.13 setting that is in conflict with LayerSlider, please tell your web host to try PHP 7.0 just to test if a PHP 7.4 setting is causing the issue.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,
thank you for the message. I have access to the server settings and going to test it right now,
thanks,
Matthias

Hi Christian,
I have done further testing but PHP 7.3.25 shows the same behaviour.
Please note, that the error occurs with ultimate member being disabled as well. Hence I am not sure if it has to do with ultimate member.
Also, with the PH 7.4.13 the slider works if you are logged in as admin.
Its only for guests.
And last but not least: I even disabled ALL plugins except cornerstone/X and LayerSlider - still the same behaviour. Please note, that it DID work with before the latest round of updates, unfortunately I believed that the latest version would work and only noticed it now, that there is an issue for guests. Hence I can not revert the backup as there was too much work done.
My question: Is it possible to roll back cornerstone and x before you did the latest big update? If yes, could you guide me to the download?
Tnx,
M

Hi Christian,
once again thank you! Please note that I rolled back to version 7. Guess what: It works. Hence it is clearly an issue with version 8.
Best,
Matt

Hi Matt,

Glad to know that the problem is solved now.

Thanks

Hi Tristup,
sorry, no. It does not mean it is fixed.
It means that I found another bug in version 8 (as version 7 works) and I kindly ask you to put it on the to do for the developers.
Right now it is impossible for us to stay updated.
Thank you,
Matt

Hey Matt,

Please copy your site over to a staging server so we could investigate without touching your live site.

Please then give us staging WP admin and FTP access.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,
thank you. I created a staging site for you with version 7.
Feel free to test.
I put the details in a secure note.
Tnx,
Matt
Ps. on the staging site the license validation works (I entered it on the license manager) however, the question to enter it comes again, eventhough the valdiation worked.

Hello Matt,

I have logged in to your staging site. I was able to update the X theme and Cornerstone to the recent release version (X 8.0.11 and CS 5.0.11). I no longer see any error. I forgot to mention that I have activated the Ultimate Member too. Still, no error display even in the error log on the staging site.

Please check your staging site now.

Hi Ruenel,
yes, it seems that version .11 has fixed the issue.
I will wait a little bit before updating the live site again and stay on 7 for now.
Thank you,
Matt

Hi Matt,

You’re welcome and we’re glad that the issue was solved by the new updates. If you have any other concerns regarding our theme features, feel free to reach us.

Thank you.
