Hi. I have some interactive PDF forms that I uploaded to a website - but once they are downloaded from the site they are no longer interactive. From what I’ve read, it seems as if this might not be possible? Can you let me know if it is? It won’t work to use formidable or another plug-in as these are forms for a Dr’s office and need to stay intact, rather than just having the answers come via email. Thanks so much for your help.

If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.

My apologies.

I have a series of forms like this. They are created in acrobat and you can fill them out electronically. I want people to be able to download them from the website and then fill them out. However, once I’ve uploaded them and then downloaded them, they loose their interactive features. I’m assuming this is because they are uploaded to the media library as an image and therefore loose their interactivity. I’m just wondering if there’s a solution I’m missing. Thanks!

Hi Lorie,

Unfortunately, there is no other way around that, but the user needs to download the PDF file, open the file to his/her PDF reader application (e.g. Acrobat, Foxit, etc.), fill the file and send it back to you.

There are browser extensions that lets the user edit a pdf file on the browser, but even with that the user still needs to save the filled file and send it to you, and not all users are willing to install an browser extension, so this is not an option either.

You 're going to hire a programmer if you need this process to be automated.

Hi. I’m not sure we’re on the same page yet. I do want the user to download the PDF, open the file, fill the file and then send it back to me. However, if I create a fillable PDF and upload it to the Media Library, it seems to eliminate the fillable aspect. When the user downloads the file, it is no longer interactive. My question is - is there another way to upload the file so it doesn’t revert to being a non-fillable PDF.

Thanks for the clarification!
Instead of uploading via media uploader please upload it through FTP and give the file URL in the link.
